2 Ravenshaw University students forced out of Hostel accommodation in ragging case

Management body of Ravenshaw University yesterday threw out two senior students from their respective hostel accommodation for the remaining of 2016-2017 year academic session in connection with a ragging case.

The accused students, Akash Patnaik and Subhrajit Roy, were expelled from Lalitgiri Hostel with immediate effect. However, they were allowed to attend classes living outside the Varsity premises.

The University also imposed fine of Rs 5000 on each of them and asked them to deposit the amount within a week.

In July this year, a +2 second year student, identified as, Biswajit Mohanty was ragged and thrashed up by few seniors headed by Subhrajit and Akash close to Lalitgiri hostel inside the University premises.

A case was also lodged at the Malgodown police station in Cuttack regarding the matter.
